Following a training in radio communication, Lapointe was hired as a host for the Saguenay Youth Show. It was at CKRS Radio where he began his career as a film director, and then hosted his first cultural show, which was on air for 3 years. He subsequently was involved with TQS and performed in voice advertisements. Lapointe was also a crowd-maker (MC) for some major festivals including the World Rhythm Festival and the World Beer Festival. Jean-François has participated in various productions, short films and independent series.
